The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with publishing house.

The author

Acclaimed writer for children and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, the company has said.

A representative for the company said: "After careful consideration, and with the guidance of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the move was taken subsequent to an review of reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at young women.

The publisher declined to specify the motivations for this action, stating: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams stands as a most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding over six tens of millions of copies internationally in dozens of tongues.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Some of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

He has published in excess of 40 works in total, which features a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

Television and Literature

His career breakthrough occurred on the TV sketch series *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE several years ago for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

This development follows the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss last fall.
